Re-imagining the dental experience and proudly setting a new standard for patient care.
At SSDG your initial consultation appointment involves an examination and a consultation, during which you can discuss any concerns you may have, in a relaxed and caring setting.
As a general rule, no treatment is performed during the initial visit, though low dose x-rays may be taken if appropriate.
If the appointment is for your child, the first visit presents an opportunity for them to familiarise themselves with our family-friendly team and become comfortable with the clinical environment. We also use this time to assess your child’s coping abilities, which will determine how to best plan their treatment.
We look forward to welcoming you to a better dental experience!

You've got the questions, we've got the answers!
We know that an impending trip to the dentist can be a cause of much fear. Fear, however, is of the unknown, so we are here to tell you everything you need to know to subdue those concerns.
Whilst most of our patients are referred to us by their general dentist, no referral is required and we welcome all new patients to the practice. Just speak to our friendly staff about how we can assist with your dental care and we can direct you to one of our specialists.
Generally, the first appointment with one of our specialists will involve a consultation, which includes a comprehensive dental examination, discussion of your dental health needs and formulation of an individualised treatment plan. X-rays might be taken at the initial appointment, if necessary. Treatment is not usually undertaken at the first appointment, as we do not know beforehand what treatment you might require.
If you have a referral letter or X-rays, we would appreciate you bringing this to your appointment so that we can understand and manage your dental needs.
Sometimes the condition of our mouth may require a dentist who is highly specialised in a particular field, e.g. oral surgery, to diagnose and provide treatment to support a healthy outcome. All our specialists have completed extra training and study to help you achieve the best possible result for your dental situation. We work closely and cohesively with your general dentist to support your dental health and individually manage your needs.
The cost of your care will vary depending on your individualised care and will always be explained each step of the way. All treatment quotes will be discussed including provision of item numbers of each treatment.
Consultation fees and treatment (that is completed at the surgery) costs can be claimed through our HICAPS on-the-spot claim. In some instances, where the latter is not possible, you will be provided with an itemised tax invoice, which you can take to your health fund directly to make the relevant claims.
Dental anxiety or phobia of the dentist are common. At Sydney Specialist Dental Group, we pride ourselves in understanding and supporting you and your family through your dental journey with us.
